Report Card

Jeb

Dear Floridians,

2011 is the Year of the Student in Florida.

Reforms enacted this year reorganize schools around the success of every student in the Sunshine State. For the first time in our history, teachers and principals will be evaluated and rewarded based on the success of their students. More Florida families will have the financial freedom to choose the education that gives their child the best opportunity for success in school and beyond. More students will be able to tap into technology to learn in their own style, at their own pace, ensuring they master the knowledge and skills to succeed in college and careers.

The culture of reform in Florida is based on the simple premise that all students can learn. A dozen years of data under a system of high expectations for learning, accountability for schools and choices for families provides undeniable, empirical proof of that core belief and guiding principle. Today, Florida is advancing reforms to improve the quality of teaching and harness the power of technology to transform education.

More than a decade after the Sunshine State implemented the A+ Plan for Education, Florida is beginning the next chapter of bold, transformational reform. Thanks to the leadership and vision of Governor Rick Scott and state lawmakers, education in Florida will remain a model for the nation.

Sincerely,

Chairman
