State Board of Education Agenda
A Sunshine State senior can earn a high school diploma without even mastering the knowledge and skills expected of a tenth grader.
Goal
Every time Florida has raised expectations, students and schools have risen to meet the challenge. Florida needs to continue to raise the bar to ensure all students achieve their full-potential.
Solutions
- Require students to achieve at least a grade level score on the tenth grade FCAT to earn a high school diploma.
- Raise the bar for school grades automatically when the overwhelming majority of schools (80-percent) earn an A or B.
